Caxton Legal Centre

Caxton Legal Centre is an independent, non-profit community organisation providing FREE legal and social work advice, assistance and referral for the general public.

Our services are designed for people who cannot afford a solicitor, for people who just want initial advice, or for people who want a referral to a private solicitor. We can provide services in most areas of law except immigration, conveyancing and some large commercial matters.

Grandparents: Parenting and Family Law Booklet

Some grandparents are the full time carers of their grandchildren and taking on the responsibility of parenting a second time around can be both rewarding and challenging.

The Queensland Government Department of Communities in conjunction with the Queensland Law Society have produced a booklet for grandparents raising grandchildren. The Grandparents: Parenting and Family Law booklet provides information about parenting, Family Law and useful places to contact. Child Protection Information Kit

The South West Brisbane Community Legal Centre has developed an ‘Information Kit on Child Protection For Parents’. This is a general information kit. It is a basic guide about rights and obligations for parents of child/ren who are in the Department of Child Safety’s (DCS) care or being investigated by the Department of Child Safety.
