The game of netball is an international sport and is played by two teams of seven players; based on throwing and catching. The object is to score goals from within a defined area, by throwing a ball into a ring attached to a 3.05 metres (10 feet) high post. Netball QLD has 83 affiliated clubs across 12 regions. Competitions are generally run from May to September, however seasons are usually run across the year. In addition, Netball QLD run the “Net, Set, Go!” program. Net Set GO! is a great opportunity for kids aged 5 – 12 years to increase their social and motor skills in a friendly, fun and safe environment. The program uses play-based games to provide maximum enjoyment for all involved. It is ideal for beginners but also beneficial for children that have played Netball before.
